U-17 World Cup: Disappointment or Jubilation?
The mood in the country right now is clear, Nigerians including me are very happy with the Federal Government of Nigeria’s decision to withdraw from next year’s FIFA U-17 World Cup. The only people that are sad right now are members of the Local Organising Committee (LOC) whom many feel should be held responsible for government’s decision to back down from hosting 2009 FIFA U-17. Nigeria is 48!
Growing up as a child I never really realized the import of celebrating Nigeria’s independence from her British colonial masters. What I do know though is that we use to look forward to October 1 just like we looked forward to children’s day celebration May 27th. (more…)
